Last year, there was a rumor in the market that "polytetrafluoroethylene will be used for 4D printing technology, and there may be explosive demand in the future", which to some extent stimulated the rise of the market. Recently, the US Patent and Trademark Office announced a new patent application from Apple, titled "System and Method for Preventing Scratches and Distortion of Light Guides". The patent details the possibility of using self repairing PTFE coatings to protect the surface of the screen, thereby avoiding distortion on Apple product displays. As soon as this news was released, coupled with recent news of PTFE being used for haze control, the PTFE market's attention immediately increased.
Experts believe that the national action to control haze will greatly stimulate the market demand for environmentally friendly products, and chemical related technologies and products will become a major support for it. Once the new PTFE microporous membrane filter material is promoted and applied, it will definitely play a positive role in China's air pollution control, and PTFE is expected to usher in a peak of demand growth.
From the market reaction, last week, the price of PTFE upstream raw material R22 began to rise, with a slight increase to 10139 yuan; The production of PTFE manufacturers is stable, and the market remains stable. Some companies have made slight adjustments to their quotations, and it is expected that the prices will increase by 2000 yuan by the end of March; But the downstream demand is average, and the overall demand is relatively small.
Objectively speaking, the application of PTFE in the domestic air environmental protection field has just begun, and its use in haze control will be a long-term process, with limited market impact in the short term. Market participants believe that PTFE prices are expected to continue to rise in the short term, but the increase will not be too significant. The price trend of PTFE in the future depends on one or two hot concepts, which are difficult to achieve significant results. Fundamentally speaking, the increase in demand for PTFE still depends on the rebound in the prosperity of various related industries.
